Somerville’s beloved Porchfest returns on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m., transforming the city into a sprawling, open-air music venue! Organized by the Somerville Arts Council, this free event invites both residents and visitors to stroll through neighborhoods. Sauntering through the neighborhood, enjoying live performances on porches, stoops, and front yards this tradition is certainly one unique to Somerville and an all around attraction to surrounding towns. With nearly 500 acts spanning genres from indie rock and jazz to hip-hop, classical, and punk, Porchfest 2025 promises a rich gathering of sound and community spirit and something everyone will enjoy.
The Cambria Hotel is at the edge of the festivities, making it a great place to start your stroll which spans all the way to the outskirts of Tufts University. To manage the day’s festivities, performances are scheduled in three zones: the West Zone (west of Willow Avenue) hosts acts from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.; the Central Zone (between Willow and Central Streets) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.; and the East Zone (east of Central Street) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This structure encourages strollers to explore different parts of the city and indulge in a diverse lineup of music. In response to the growing attendance and to ensure safety, organizers have implemented new measures this year. Certain major thoroughfares, including Broadway, Central Street, and Highland Avenue, are designated as no-performance zones to maintain clear routes for emergency vehicles, so plan ahead!
Porchfest not only showcases Somerville’s vibrant music scene but also fosters a sense of community and shared experience. Whether you’re a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect with neighbors, support local artists, and enjoy the eclectic sounds that define Somerville’s cultural landscape.
