Nestled into the hustle and bustle of Somerville, Barra serves authentic Mexico City cuisine coupled with a full Mezcal bar! With great service and an even better atmosphere, Barra spreads smiles and is a perfect way to end any workday. Not only is there a bar with available seating but a full dining room as well as an outdoor patio for when the Boston weather begins to warm up.
Barra serves dishes made with fantastic fresh ingredients and hand-crafted artisanal drinks. One of their signature garnishes is a dusting of crickets that can in fact be added to a number of drinks and even appetizers if you’re brave enough. I wasn’t quite as daring as Lisa who ordered the house margarita with Mezcal and the addition of several crickets.
A few of our other favorite light bites and tacos are all served on hand pressed tortillas prepared at the moment of order. The Tuna Tostadas and Aguachile Amarillo are fantastic seafood options, although if fish isn’t your thing then I recommend the Quesabirrias (a.k.a. A delicious birria quesadilla with dipping sauce).
